Halloween Favors - Lollipop Ghosts

It is officially Fall, which in my household means that Halloween is just around the corner!  My hubby has kindly taken down our tubs of Halloween decorations from the attic and I just need to decide where everything goes.  Decorating for Halloween is one of my favorite things to do!

Last year for Halloween, I made little lollipop ghosts for Brody to bring to his class party.  These are super simple to make (and inexpensive!).  And of course I had to add a little personal touch by making little tags with Brody's name on them.  If you would like to make some for your child's classmates or friends, here's what you need!

Supplies:

Lollipops
Ribbon
Napkins
Marker
Custom Tags [optional, you can make your own or printable can be purchased HERE]
Little hole puncher (to make a hole in your tag)

- Lay your napkin in front of you in a diamond position and put the lollipop in the center.  I like to use the thicker quality napkins so that the ghosts aren't see-through.

- Wrap the napkin all the way around the lollipop and use the ribbon to wrap the napkin tightly.

- If you are using a little tag, now would be the time to attach it to the ribbon (punch a little hole in the corner to get the ribbon through it).

- Make a bow with your ribbon or just double tie to make sure the ribbon doesn't come undone.  And then make your ghost's face!  I just added eyes, but if you're feeling creative, you can make a silly or scary face!

And there you go!  You just made a cute lollipop ghost!

I put all of them together and stuck them in a styrofoam block and put in a container for Brody to share with his classmates.

BOO!

Flavored Ice Cubes

It is almost fall!  But here in Florida, it is still really hot!  The other day we decided to make it a family activity to wash our cars.  The kids were having fun with the hose, but I can see their little faces getting red and sweaty...

Here's Brody playing with the hose (and yes, above is a rare picture of my husband with the kids.  He is not a fan of getting his picture taken, so I figured I would use his photo since I got him to smile in this shot!)

And here's Skylar showing me one of her beautiful smiles while working hard...

So just for fun, I wanted to make their ice waters extra special.  I know flavored ice isn't something new or extremely creative, but sometimes it's the little touches that can make our kids smile.  And I will do anything to make Brody and Skylar smile!

All you need is some juice (I actually used some fruit juice that the kids didn't like so much and some pink lemonade to add another color).  My hubby later recommended using snow cone syrup, we will have to try that another time!

Just fill your ice cube tray with the liquid (I used my super cute heart-shaped ice cube tray).

And after a few hours, you get some colorful and flavorful ice cubes!

Add some water and enjoy your refreshing beverage!

Here are the kiddos enjoying their ice, cold drinks!

Sweet Customers - Jayden's Candyland Party

I am so excited to share with you this amazing party thrown by one of my sweet customers, Lisette.  When I received her email, I was absolutely delighted and could not help smile from ear to ear looking at the bright and colorful eye candy she had sent me!  There are so many things I love about this party, but the highlight is definitely the rainbow cake and other fabulous treats created by The Sweet Tooth Cakery.

Check out the rest of her beautiful pictures and read what she wrote about how she created this party for her best friend's son, Jayden...

Hi Iris,

Thank you again for the beautiful banner and coordinating candy labels to complete the Candyland birthday for one of my best girlfriend's son. Tanya (Jayden's mom) approached me in January about planning her son's 6th birthday for August. We discussed several themes but settled on Candyland when we realized how much he loves candy. Tanya had already settled on a local bowling alley as the venue so it was just a matter of seeing the vision through.

We searched Candyland themes and although the majority were geared towards girls we thought the tablescape you put together for your son was perfect for a boy and we used it as inspiration.

Purchasing and stocking up on candy occurred early on. The bubblegum towers and bubblegum cupcake cups were found at Michaels and purchased using several coupons. The unicorn lollipops pops were a great find around Valentines Day at Walmart. (We simply repackaged the pops the day before the party into clear pretzel bags to give them a more neutral look.) The remainder of the candy was purchased at BJ's, Target and the local grocery store.

The chocolate cupcakes, confetti cakepops, almond sugar cookies and fabulous rainbow cake were all courtesy of our shop The Sweet Tooth Cakery based out of Tampa, Florida.

Each child also received their very own toothbrush along with a Candyland board game to accompany all the sweet treats gifted at the party.

Thanks so much Lisette for creating such a wonderful party and using the printable banner and labels from the Candyland Party Collection by Sweet Metel Moments!
