Brody's Candyland Party

I had so much fun planning Brody's 5th birthday party since it involved lots and lots of candy!  One of the highlights of the party was the bright and colorful candy buffet.  Sweets included long twirly lollipops, large Pixy Stix, Oreo pops, Smarties, Sour Patch Kids, and ice cream cones filled with Froot Loops, amongst other candies.  We also had some buckets of chocolate candy bars that were a big hit for the adults.  Another big hit was the castle bouncehouse that the kids enjoyed (and even some of us adults towards the end of the party!)  Thank you so much to our wonderful family and friends who celebrated this special day with our very special birthday boy!

The birthday cake was actually a carrot cake from Walmart and I added some colorful gumdrops and swirly fondant lollipops that I had so much fun making!  Of course I had to add a personalized cake topper to make the cake extra special for our Brody.

Other party decor included giant lollipops scattered around the house as well as colorful paper lanterns made to look like floating wrapped candies.  A big thank you to my amazing husband who worked on these DIY projects and for being so supportive throughout the whole party planning process!

As far as the party favors, two guests took home Candyland board games for guessing how many jelly beans were in a jar (congrats Michelle and Sang!) and every child received a brown bag to fill up with his/her favorite goodies.  To get on the parents' good side, each child received a toothbrush as well.

Happy 5th Birthday Brody!

I can't believe our little guy is 5 years old today.  I can still remember the day that the Lord brought Brody into this world and completely changed our lives.  Being a mommy has been the most wonderful blessing.  Happy birthday to my little man!  You bring so much happiness and laughter to this family and we love you so much!

Metel Family on Family Feud

Metel Family with Family Feud host - Steve Harvey (he made us laugh all day!!)

Growing up, I remember watching the game show Family Feud and thinking that one day, my family and I would be on that show.  Well, back in July, that thought became a reality!!  The process began back in May when Chris spotted an article in the newspaper that Family Feud would be moving to Universal Studios Orlando and that they needed families to audition for the show.  I jumped on that opportunity immediately and before we knew it, we were at the studios for auditions.  We went through some other steps to move through the process, and then we finally heard that we were selected as a family!  Filming day was one of the most memorable days in my life (and probably the longest day of my life!)

And after waiting several months, our shows are finally being aired!!  They will air on Thursday and Friday, February 10th and 11th, 5:30 PM (EST).  Times will vary depending on where you live, so make sure to check your local listings!  You can check out the Family Feud website HERE to see what channel it plays in your local area.

I will always cherish this memory.  Thank you to my husband Chris, sister Riccinni, sister-in-law Michelle, and brother-in-law Joe for being part of such an awesome experience!

Make sure to watch the shows to see how we did and leave me a comment here to let me know what you think!!  In the meantime, come check out some embarrassing and hilarious outtakes of our family on You Tube (the links are below):
